SPF and CFS Celebrate Top-ranked Investment Program Managers

Four CFS and SPF program managers make it in top list by Bank Investment Consultant

SAN DIEGO – June 9, 2014 – Sister companies, CUSO Financial Services, L.P. (CFS) and Sorrento Pacific Financial, LLC (SPF), full-service broker dealers and SEC Registered Investment Advisers providing customized investment and insurance solutions to financial institutions, announce the high ranking of four of their investment program managers in Bank Investment Consultant (BIC) magazine’s annual Top Program Managers list. Program Managers Mike Haggerty, James Badge, John Marx, and Mark Hoaglin were all ranked in the list.

According to BIC, the ranking is designed, “To recognize the most successful bank and credit union program managers” in the country and is based on several weighted variables including: percentage growth in team AUM; percentage growth in team production; production per advisor; number of advisors; and number of license branch employees.

Read on for the ranking and tips to success by the four program managers.

Mike Haggerty with CommunityAmerica Financial Services, ranked number three, says the key to his success has been steady growth. While there have been some inevitable bumps—notably the financial crash that struck shortly after he was made program manager in 2006— he says, “we’ve had seven consecutive years of growth.” His program has grown by 500%, to a point where his team now covers 30 branches and handles nearly $500 million in AUM for about 6,000 clients.

James Badge with DFCU Financial, ranked number eleven, achieves success by delivering consistency. He believes in hiring accomplished advisors and then providing them with a great career path and supporting them with plenty of prospecting opportunities (and also by staying out of their way). Consistency remains his greatest tool, and he is proud of his program’s track record of success.

John Marx with Elevations Credit Union, ranked number thirteen, believes in management by communication. He believes in sharing ideas and discussing challenges and successes with both financial advisors and branch managers. He created a monthly newsletter and quarterly e-blasts to clients and prospects and oversees a seminar series to educate members on investments.

Mark Hoaglin with Patelco Credit Union, ranked number twenty-three, requires mentorship and coaching in all areas: with clients, branch employees, and investment team members. He holds his advisors to high standards of production, but his robust sales assistant program has been instrumental in removing hurdles for advisors. Hoaglin’s focus on coaching results in success in all sectors.

“These gentlemen represent the pinnacle of investment program management,” said Valorie Seyfert, CFS and SPF president and CEO. “They are great examples of the experienced caliber of people leading our programs across the country. We love that PMs such as these choose to work with us for many years, and have proven that our collaborative partnership with such experienced managers builds strong programs for our financial institution clients. This ranking by BIC highlights the best program managers in the country and we congratulate Mike, Jim, John and Mark. The recognition is well deserved.”
